"A friend taught
me to knit when our daughter was born in 1970. I soon was knitting up a
storm and eventually began the daunting task of finding good yarns, especially
wool. In early 80's I became friends with a woman who taught me to spin.
This was about the time our two children joined the 4-H Lamb Club and so
began our career as sheep farmers. I was spinning yarn faster than I could
knit. There had to be a faster way to produce a wonderful garment.
There was - WEAVING! It became one of my passions. I love weaving
cloth and letting it tell me what it wants to be; a jacket, a cape,
a blouse, etc. I enjoy going back to my roots of knitting and adding
it to a woven garment. I also sell my handspun wool yarns to hand
knitters.
Over the years I have taken numerous classes and workshops
from nationally known fiber artists. My education in fiber arts continues
each day. I like to create one of-a-kind articles of clothing, using
simple lines in design, never using the same colors or yarns. I am
a current juried member of the Craftmen's Guild of Pittsburgh.
My work is available to The Pittsburgh Center for the Arts, Touchstone
Center for Crafts, Farmington, PA SeaTree Gallery, Nags Head, NC,
Main Exhibit Gallery, Ligonier, PA, Latrobe Art Center, Latrobe,
PA, The Gallery, Oakland, MD and Endless Possibilities, Manteo, NC.
Custom orders are welcome!"
