OPENING RECEPTION - FRIDAY, MAY
9TH - 6:30 p.m.
Dick travels the U.S. extensively
seeking images of Nature that convey his love of God's creations.
The opportunity to experience the animals, places and things in
nature gives him a unique perspective that he attempts to capture
in his images. "Photography is an art, a fact frequently unrecognized
by the general public."
Petrie's work has received awards
at the Local, State, and National Levels. He places private exhibits
and participates in Art Festivals and Art and Craft Festivals throughout
the Eastern United States. He has also been a guest lecturer at
the Carnegia Museum of Natural History. Dick conducts private photo
seminars in the field and has conducted Photography seminars for
the audubon Society and in Pittsburgh area schools. His images
have been published in nature magazines, calendars, and greeting
cards.
His emphasis is on Wildlife; however,
one cannot photograph wildlife without experiencing nature in general.
His work reflects the Grandeur of the great outdoors. Baby animals
are his weakness and are some of his favorite and most successful
images. His most recent work includes whales and grizzly bears
and cubs in Alaska. His next trip into the field will be on the
Sea of Cortez for Whales and other creatures in and around the
sea.
